Find out more about Britain & Co.’s involvement in creating a stunning ceiling at the new Tiffany Blue Box Café at Harrod’s in Knightsbridge.

The words ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ conjure images of Audrey Hepburn, a little black dress, the iconic beehive and 1960’s Manhattan. From February 2020 though, the words can also conjure images of the new Tiffany Blue Box Café at Harrod’s in Knightsbridge where, if you arrive between 8:00 – 11:30am at least, you can actually have breakfast at Tiffany’s!

Film and Truman Capote references aside, Britain & Co. were involved in the decoration of the café prior to its opening earlier this year, gilding a domed-coffer in silver to create an almost reflective surface, echoing the sterling silver jewellery that the brand is so well known for.

Ensuring a smooth finish prior to applying the metal leaf was absolutely vital as any imperfections would have become apparent very quickly so our team spent a good amount of time smoothing and priming the dome interior.

Once primed, our team applied a very thin layer of oil size before finally applying the silver leaf which, set against the distinctive Tiffany blue, creates an elegant likeness of the original flagship store in New York.
